Orologi da torre: caratteristiche e vantaggi

 

Gli orologi da torre devono naturalmente avere grandi dimensioni: uno, due, tre o anche più metri di diametro e, in base al campanile su cui vengono posizionati, possono proporsi negli stili più diversi. Ecco allora che la forma dei quadranti può variare dal quadrato al rotondo e il loro sfondo può essere il semplice bianco, oppure prevedere particolari colorazioni o ancora decorazioni, qualora si volesse ricreare un ricco stile barocco. Anche le sfere e i numeri devono adeguarsi allo stile scelto e quindi si può spaziare dalle cifre arabe a quelle romane, mentre le lancette(sfere) possono essere sagomate con forme classiche e lavorazioni che si ispirano al passato, oppure possono essere modellate con un design moderno, originale o essenziale a seconda delle necessità. Il meccanismo dell’orologio da torre deve invece essere regolato da un apposito “programmatore” capace di provvedere sia al movimento delle sfere che al rintocco delle ore e delle mezzore.

 

Orologi da torre: materiali di qualità per un’opera davvero unica

 

Si possono scegliere tanti tipi di orologi da torre in base ai propri gusti e necessità, a patto però di affidarsi a chi abbia grande esperienza in materia e sappia realizzare degli orologi da torre su misura per ogni esigenza. Lo stile però non è tutto perché la resistenza all’usura e alle condizioni atmosferiche sono altrettanto importanti e dunque è necessaria una grande attenzione nella scelta dei materiali dei vari componenti. I materiali ideali sono:

  • Perspex, resina particolarmente robusta per i quadranti
  • Alluminio anodizzato trattato a forno per le sfere
  • Bronzo o alluminio anodizzato per i numeri

La storia degli orologi da torre e la loro realizzazione

Da sempre si è sentita la necessità di scandire il tempo e, se in antichità si utilizzavano le meridiane, con l’invenzione dei primi congegni meccanici medioevali ecco apparire i primi orologi da torre meccanici posti sui campanili per dar modo all’intera comunità di conoscere l’ora.   Con grandi quadranti per essere visibili in ogni punto del borgo, scandivano il tempo con il suono delle campane. In seguito i grandi orologi fecero la loro comparsa anche sulle torri di alcune abitazioni.
